Elevate with Extra Flavor. Elevate your chili recipe by adding an extra layer of flavor. Cocoa powder, bacon, cinnamon, ground coffee and tomato paste will all add a rich sweet & salty flavors that are sure to surprise and delight.
The seasoned peppers, onions, garlic, and ground beef smoke for 1 hour to infuse them all with nice, smoky flavor. Once the meat and vegetables are smoked, the chili is prepared like to would any other chili. Combine the beef broth, tomatoes, beans, meat, and veggies in a large pat and cook over medium heat.
I like to serve my camping chilli with some grated cheddar and a generous dollop of soured cream but if I'm serving it at home I'll load it up with sliced avocado and a generous drizzle of chilli-infused olive oil too.
Spices: While cumin, chile powder, and cayenne pepper tend to be common additions to many chili recipes, there's a broad world of flavor out there to experiment with. Try a little fenugreek, turmeric, garam masala, or sumac to layer in more complex flavors. Smoky paprika is my own personal favorite.
