FAQ
Don't overcrowd your air fryer basket. This allows the fish to get crispy all over. If you don't have an air fryer, you can achieve similar results in a convection oven (see directions in the recipe), but I found that the air fryer delivers a crisper finish faster.
Absolutely! The air fryer uses a fan to circulate hot air evenly around all sides of the coated fish fillets, cooking it quickly and with very little oil—just a spritz of cooking spray! This allows the fish to cook quickly and perfectly golden brown in just minutes, with no messy pot of hot oil!
Preheat the air fryer to 180C. Add the foil parcels to the preheated air fryer and air fry for 7-10 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets. The fish should just flake when a fork is inserted. Serve immediately.
When you start cooking fish, it's shiny and translucent. When it's done, the fish will be opaque. Flake easily with a fork. When fish is finished cooking, it will easily flake apart with a fork (more on that next) without any pushing or tugging.
The drier your food is when it goes in, the crispier it'll be when it comes out. Extra liquid can also cause splattering and smoking, so even if you think your ingredients are dry, give them one last pat with a paper towel before adding them to the basket.
